The Great Squirt

I bought a kids' book at our local library sale for a buck. WHOLLY COW is the title; copyright 1988, and in the book is everything cute about cows. As I was flipping through, I was struck by a piece of artwork that showed a HUGE udder in the upper half and nothing but space - all the way to the bottom of the artwork, where Mt. Fuji sits on the horizon. Printed opposite the page is the title of the art piece THE GREAT SQUIRT (after Hokusai's piece THE GREAT WAVE). I googled the artist's name: Leonard Ragouzeos and wrote him an email. Some time passed, and we introduced ourselves through Skype... us the cheese makers in Oregon and he, the artist in Vermont. I wanted to know if he would allow us to use his artwork to create a logo for our business. Leonard agreed and we shook hands over the computer. A deal was made.

Then I got bossy... "but can you remove some of the 'hair' on the udder and add a fourth obvious teat and oh! Leonard, can you add a few more volcanoes?" With the help of his daughter, they managed to graphic-design the changes and there you have it! In late 2011, Leonard and Cher skyped again and in exchange for some more cheese, Leonard will be shipping the original GREAT SQUIRT to Oregon to hang on our cheese factory wall. In making the acquisition deal, Leonard said "this piece of art (soon to be shipped) looks naked without the words "Cada Dia Cheese". How lucky can we be?
